MWL Redline - February 6, 2008

Home News Shows Roster Championships

"Beautiful!  This is a beautiful way to kick off MWL Redline this week!"  Jim Norris shouted into his headset, slamming his hands onto their card table set, grinning.  "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages!  It's been a while, but MWL is proud to present the return of Free Radical TV!"

"It's been so long since we've done this, what the hell was our last installment even about?"  Nicholas wondered, looking to Jim.

"Uh...crap.  I don't know.  Did we ever know what we were going on about, though?"  Jim sighed.

"True, true, alright, let's just wing it!"  Nick stated, dropping his MWL World Heavyweight Championship belt onto the card table, which wobbled under the belt's weight.  "MWL World Heavyweight Champion, Nicholas Hunter, here!"

"And the future five-time MWL World Lightweight Champion, Jim Norris.  We are Free Radical, and so help us, we will hold the MWL World Tag Team Championship!"  Jim shouted.

"And we'll do it after Fallen Rites in March!  We'll be the first team to beat the Ssu-Ling one, two, three, and we'll be the new MWL World Tag Team Champions!  Hell, we'll be the ONLY MWL World Champions!  And that's something that even the Ssu-Ling haven't pulled off, yet."  Nick laughed.

"We are the best tag team MWL has ever seen, and we'll prove that once and for all!"  Jim announced.

"I hate to break up your return segment, guys, but if you two plan on getting a shot at the MWL World Tag Team Championship, one of you two will have to go through twenty-three other guys."  Michael Jamborgh sighed, his image appearing on the titantron as Free Radical spun around in their swivel chairs to face him.  "Look, don't get me wrong, I'm hoping an MWL loyalist will win at Fallen Rites.  The last thing MWL needs is the X taking another championship into their group."

"Well, the X needs to be put away, and we're just the guys to do it!"  Jim announced, flashing a "thumbs-up" at the titantron.

"Alright, well guys, I hate to break up your segment, but you'd better get out of there.  The show's going to start in a minute or so."  Michael stated.

"Hello, ladies and gentlemen, Stevan Corber here, with Tiananman and his translator!"  Stevan announced.  "Tonight, in our opening bout, Tiananman will face Byakko in singles competition as preparation for his tag title match at Conquest.  What are his thoughts?"  The translator then repeated the monologue to Tiananman, who began chattering away, while the translator listened closely.  After Tiananman finished, the translator turned to Stevan.

"Tiananman says that he respects Byakko, and he acknowledges that he has impressive in-ring talent, but tonight, the Asian Persuasion's sights are set on the MWL World Tag Team Championship match on Sunday, where they will emerge victorious over the Ssu-Ling.  Byakko is merely the first battle on their road to glory."  The translator stated.

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, Tiananman and Byakko, one-on-one, is up NEXT!"  Stevan announced.

    Match 1: Tiananman v. Byakko

"How in the hell did I end up in this match?!"  Yugo demanded, looking over the card.  "Me against Genbu?!  And it's not even the main event!"

"Well, Yugo, let me run it down for you like this.  Genbu is defending his title on Sunday night against three other men.  He needs a warm-up match.  And you, well...  I just don't like you, especially with this whole 'the X' thing, and trying to take over MWL, so I hope you get hurt."  Michael shrugged.

"You're an evil person, Michael."  Yugo groaned.

"Save it.  I founded this promotion, Yugo, and I'm not going to sit by while you and your squad try to take over the fruits of my labor!"  Michael growled.  "You can rename the championships all you want, but unless it goes through me, those titles will ALWAYS be MWL-sanctioned, and will not be renamed 'the X' anything.  Do you understand?"

"We'll see about that, Michael..."  Yugo muttered, turning and making his exit from Michael's office.

"I hope you get broken in half."  Michael responded.

As Genbu marched down the hallway, his MWL-CAW Championship around his waist, he slapped his title belt, then growled loudly, his gaze fixed ahead as he made his way out to the arena for his match against the former MWL World Heavyweight Champion.

Match 2: Genbu v. Yugo Ryan

"Alright, Catastrophe, this'll be the first time we've tagged together since...what, Dead Heat?"  Lino asked, as Catastrophe paced back and forth through the X's locker room.  "What are you doing?"

"I'm pacing."  Catastrophe answered, looking to the floor and chewing on his thumbnail as he went.

"What...why?"  Lino demanded, cocking an eyebrow.

"Because we'll be out there with the MWL World Heavyweight Champion, the guy that beat Yugo almost a month ago!"  Catastrophe announced.  "Think about it, if I have a good showing against the champion, Michael might just give me a title shot!"

"Oh, yes, because you're just a LEGEND in the making, aren't you?"  Lino asked.  "As I recall, before MWL got this Redline deal, you were competing with the lightweights, but you can't exactly do that any more, can you?"

"What's that supposed to mean?!"  Catastrophe shouted.

"Oh, just that...all things considered, I don't think you could win the title from Nicholas Hunter if you tried."  Lino laughed, as Catastrophe growled.  "Look, you might not be willing to give credit where it's due, but Nick is a tough customer.  You can't just beat him the same way you would, say...David Hitz.  Nick managed to outright pin Yugo for the belt, and you can't argue that he did...at least, not without making yourself look like a moron.  But the fact remains, he is the champion, and we don't know what's going on in the title picture yet, so just let it go, alright?"

"Why are you trying to get me to let it go?"  Catastrophe asked, getting in Lino's face as he stood.

"Because I used to tag with him, we won the tag titles, and I know what he's capable of.  If you don't want to listen, fine, but just don't say I didn't warn you."  Lino answered, as the team made their way to the arena.

Main Event: SYN v. Nicholas Hunter & Viper

As Lino made his way up the ramp, his MWL North American Championship in hand, Catastrophe stopped, turned around and rushed back down to the ring.  Lino turned to watch, then shook his head as he continued away.  Catastrophe lifted Nicholas Hunter onto his shoulders, and prepared for a Tilt-A-Whirl Knockout.  Nick slid out of his grip and landed behind him, then lifted him up and over, and hit the Fox Arc.  Catastrophe stood as Nick grabbed the MWL World Heavyweight Championship, and made a move to grab at Nick again, this time being greeted by a hard shot to the face from the title belt.

Catastrophe stayed down as Nicholas Hunter slid out of the ring and began to make his way backstage, followed by Viper.
