MWL/The X Onslaught - January 13, 2008
"Well, I'm glad your tensions are so easy to solve." A voice called out, as Michael Jamborgh appeared on the stage. "Because, since Lino won the match, I'm giving him a shot at the MWL North American Championship at Onslaught!" At this, Lino struck a victorious pose, as Catastrophe looked to Yugo, then Michael, furious.
"Something else, Yugo, Onslaught will be the X taking on the MWL!" Michael announced. "Which means, like it or not, you will defend that MWL World Heavyweight Championship against Nicholas Hunter!"
"You can't do that! I am the champion, and I--" Yugo began.
"Have no say in the matter." Michael interrupted. "Nortons!" Michael spat, as the two brothers stood at attention. "You two will face the Ssu-Ling for the MWL World Tag Team Championship. Now let's make this interesting. One of you guys will be challenging for the MWL World Lightweight Championship, too. But, as far as I can see, you've only got one lightweight, and he's already booked. So, you can let little Spike there wrestle his heart out twice at Onslaught, or, you boys'd better get to recruiting!" Michael laughed.
"Now wait a damn minute, Michael!" Catastrophe shouted, grabbing a microphone. "What about me, huh?!"
"What about you?" Michael asked.
"Lino and Red get title shots, Spike gets TWO, what about me?!" Catastrophe demanded.
"Hrmm...what about Catastrophe...?" Michael pondered. "Well, let's see...I could...put you in the MWL World Heavyweight Championship match...or, I could make the tag title match HT5... Ooh, or what about giving you a shot at the MWL North American Championship? Or better yet, the MWL-CAW Championship..."
The X remained silent as Michael continued thinking. "You know what? I'll get back to you on that." Michael laughed, making his way backstage, as the X slowly stepped out of the ring and made their exit, as well.
As Shane Warner's music blared, he appeared on the stage doing his usual theatrics as Michael followed him. Michael began to make his way down the ramp while Shane remained on the stage, following a moment later. Michael stepped into the ring as Shane slid in, Michael grabbed a microphone from ringside. "Alright, ladies and gentlemen, Onslaught is quickly approaching when MWL and the X will go head-to-head all night, so here's exactly what will happen. But first, tonight will serve as a precursor. Spike Norton and David Hitz will face off one-on-one first, then the former MWL World Tag Team Champions, Yugo Ryan and Lino, will face the rising stars, the Asian Persuasion. And in the main event tonight, MWL North American Champion Kouryuu defends his title against the one and only Catastrophe!" Michael announced.
"But, wait, that's not all!" Shane added.
"Shut up, Shane." Michael groaned. "Now then, starting off Onslaught, we'll be letting a couple of the women tear loose at each other. It will be Melissa Rez, head-to-head with Amy Kaldahl! After that, Viper will be competing, and depending upon the results of tonight's title match, he will face either Catastrophe, or Lino. Then, the MWL North American Championship will be on the line, and depending on tonight's title match, it will either be Catastrophe versus Shane Warner, or Kouryuu versus Lino." Michael stated, as Shane Warner soaked in the crowd reaction.
"Then, the MWL World Lightweight Championship will be defended by David Hitz against a representative of the X. After that, the MWL World Tag Team Championship will be on the line when the Ssu-Ling defend against the Norton Brothers. And last, but most definitely not least, the MWL World Heavyweight Championship will be up for grabs when the champion, Yugo Ryan, defends the title against Nicholas Hunter!" Michael announced.
"Hello, Stevan Corber here with the current reigning MWL World Heavyweight Champion, and leader of the X, Yugo Ryan. Yugo, Michael Jamborgh has built Onslaught on Sunday to be entirely MWL clashing head-to-head with the X. That said, I have to ask, have you found anyone to compete in the MWL World Lightweight Championship match against David Hitz, or are you going to let Spike Norton compete in both the tag title and lightweight title matches?" Stevan asked.
"You know what, Stevan? Don't worry about it. Suffice it to say that the X will not be shown up!" Yugo announced.
"Well, either way, tonight you and Lino will clash with Free Radical in tag team action. Will the match tonight be a sign of things to come?" Stevan asked.
"What are you talking about?" Yugo demanded. "I am THE MWL World Heavyweight Champion, and nobody in this run down promotion can take my title away from me! Which is why the X has arrived on the scene. Nobody here is competent enough to represent MWL, and that is why after Onslaught, when I beat the sorry excuse for a challenger that Michael Jamborgh has thrown at me, this will become the X Heavyweight Championship!" Yugo announced.
"Wait...didn't you invite Nicholas Hunter to join the X?" Stevan asked.
"He didn't accept, and that in and of itself shows that just like the rest of MWL, he's not fit to even walk on the same ground as me, let alone compete for MY championship!" Yugo vaunted. "We're done here." With that, Yugo walked off, looking furious.
"Look, Allan, I don't know if this is clear enough to you, but Onslaught is ONLY for MWL versus the X matches. I know you hate AJ, and I'm not fond of him, either, with the way he behaved during the North American Championship tournament. Now, if this were any other event, I'd be happy to oblige, but as much as we all hate AJ, he isn't with the X, so I can't give you your match." Michael stated.
"But--" Allan began.
"No, Allan!" Michael interrupted, throwing his hand up to stop him. "We'll see about Conquest, though."
"This is better than my soaps!" Shane giggled.
As Allan Martel and Anthony Jacobs brawled furiously at ringside, Catastrophe stepped out of the ring, and began to make his way toward the backstage area, as Michael Jamborgh appeared on the stage, microphone on hand. "Both of you, settle down!" Michael shouted, as Allan and AJ backed away from each other. "Allan, you came to me earlier requesting a match against AJ, but I wouldn't let you have it because he's not affiliated with the X. Well, since he interfered in your match, on behalf of Catastrophe, a member of the X, that, to me, constitutes an affiliation with the X." Michael stated, as Allan cheered to himself, with AJ looking furiously to Michael.
"Now, then, that said, we have a problem. The card for Onslaught is already all filled out. All the matches have been booked, and we only have enough room on the card for six matches. However, there's nothing wrong with a good pre-show!" Michael announced. "That said, on January 13, 2008, just before Onslaught, it will be Allan Martel and Anthony Jacobs, one-on-one, in a Buried Alive match!" Michael announced, before returning to the backstage area, as Allan Martel made motions to suggest he would defeat Anthony Jacobs once again.
As Yugo Ryan and Lino made their way up the ramp, Yugo turned to face his two competitors. Jim Norris dragged himself back into the ring, as Nicholas Hunter pointed to Yugo, before making a gesture at his waist, signalling that he would emerge victorious, with the MWL World Heavyweight Championship.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first MWL versus the X event, Onslaught! Danny Tieso here, with my broadcast partner, Chad Vritska!" Danny announced.
"Tonight, every single match will pit a wrestler representing MWL against a wrestler representing Yugo Ryan's group, the X. Our opening bout tonight will feature Yugo Ryan's manager, Melissa Rez, going head-to-head against Free Radical's manager, Amy Kaldahl." Chad stated.
"Wednesday, on Redline, we saw Yugo Ryan & Lino defeat the team of Free Radical by count-out, after a grueling match for both teams. Is this a sign of things to come tonight, or will Free Radical overcome the odds? We'll find out, tonight." Danny stated.
* * *
"Alright, Amy, you can handle Melissa, right?" Nicholas Hunter asked, as Amy Kaldahl nodded.
"Yeah, she'll be no problem at all!" Amy announced.
"That's my girl." Nick grinned, patting her on the back. "Any idea where Jimmy is?"
"Last time I heard from him, he was training at the gym, and that was last night..." Amy answered.
"Jimmy? Training? Yeah, right." Nick snorted. "Anyway, good luck tonight, Amy."
"You too, Nick." Amy replied, making her exit, as Nicholas watched her leave.
Match 1: Melissa Rez v. Amy Kaldahl
"And MWL is off to a great start tonight!" Danny announced. "We're one-for-one!"
"Or, if you count the pre-show match, two-for-two." Chad added.
"Yeah, that's right..." Danny muttered.
"Alright, let's go to Stevan Corber, who is standing by with Viper!" Chad stated.
* * *
"Viper, in just a minute, you will be facing a representative of the X, in Catastrophe. Catastrophe is not a man to be taken lightly, but then again, neither are you. That said, is there anything you would like to say to your opponent, tonight?" Stevan asked.
"Why, yes, Stevan, in fact, there is." Viper grinned. "Catastrophe, tonight, it's you and me, one on one, but you might as well just not show up, because, quite frankly, you may have a bunch of teammates, but you can't count on the team you've joined. All of them have matches tonight, and there's no one that can save you from me." With that, Viper handed the microphone back to Stevan, before making his exit.
* * *
"Why, that little...!" Catastrophe growled, visibily angry with Viper's statement. "I'll rip that little shit to pieces!"
"You do that." Lino stated, honestly not caring, as Catastrophe snorted and stormed out of the X's locker room.
Match 2: Viper v. Catastrophe
"Three-for-three, baby!" Danny announced.
"Calm down, would you?" Chad groaned.
"Right, right..." Danny muttered, taking a deep breath. "Up next is a match between Kouryuu and Lino, for the MWL North American Championship."
"Kouryuu, the reigning and defending champion, stands six-foot-seven, and has the weight advantage at two hundred and seventy-six pounds. His most devastating attacks are the Dragonlock and the Void Whisper." Chad explained.
"And the challenger, Lino, hails from Anchorage, Alaska. He weighs two hundred and sixty-three pounds, and has the height advantage at six-foot-ten. Lino prefers to finish matches using either the devastating Spike Suplex, or the Faceplant." Danny stated.
"Okay, it sounds like Stevan Corber is standing by, backstage, with the MWL World Heavyweight Champion, Yugo Ryan. Stevan?" Chad interrupted.
* * *
"Thank you, Chad. Yugo Ryan, it was announced that there will be an MWL versus the X match for the MWL World Lightweight Championship, that would pit David Hitz against Spike Norton, if you could not recruit another lightweight by tonight. Have you managed to find anyone at all?" Stevan asked, as Yugo Ryan grinned.
"Stevan, suffice it to say, we have a man to face David Hitz for the title." Yugo snorted, making his exit after his statement.
"Can we get a name?" Stevan asked.
"Piss off!" Yugo snapped, from off-camera.
Match 3: MWL North American Championship - (C) Kouryuu v. Lino
"...Damn it!" Danny yelled.
"You didn't honestly think we'd be lucky enough to get a clean sweep, did you?" Chad asked.
"Well, I was kinda hoping..." Danny began.
"Law of averages, my young friend." Chad muttered. "So, we're due for the MWL World Lightweight Championship match, but does anybody even know who the second guy is?"
"Not that I know of..." Danny replied.
"Well, great. What the HELL do we do, then?" Chad demanded.
"We could, uh..." Danny began, thinking to himself, as Chad spun around in his chair so his back was to the camera, and he was staring at the set behind them.
"Well?" Chad pressed.
"Uhh..." Danny repeated.
"It figures. You can't think of anything, can you?!" Chad accused.
"B-but...!" Danny began.
"Shut up!" Chad yelled, facing the camera once again. "Let's go to the arena for the match that we don't have a clue about. Now!"
Match 4: MWL World Lightweight Championship - (C) David Hitz v. ?????
"At this rate, MWL's gonna lose!" Danny whined.
"Of course!" Chad groaned. "Scott Froelich! I should've known! Y'know what? Stevan Corber's standing by with the Ssu-Ling. Let's find out a little some-some about this match, shall we? Stevan?"
* * *
"Hello, Stevan Corber, here, with the Ssu-Ling!" Stevan announced. "Kouryuu, just a few minutes ago, you took a hard loss to Lino for the MWL North American Championship. Surely you're still worn out from this match, so will you be defending the MWL World Tag Team Championship with Seiryu, or will you be passing the ball to someone else, tonight?"
"Byakko, tonight, I'm far too exhausted to defend two titles, so here. You will be tagging with Seiryu against the Norton Brothers, tonight." Kouryuu stated, handing his MWL World Tag Team Championship belt to Byakko.
"Kouryuu..." Byakko began.
"Settle down." Seiryu interrupted. "Kouryuu just handed the belt to you. He's clearly confident enough to feel you and I can take on those punks."
"Because you can." Kouryuu stated. "Now get out there, and kick some ass." With that, Seiryu made his exit, dragging Byakko along behind him.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Seiryu and Byakko defend the MWL World Tag Team Championship against the Norton Brothers, NEXT!" Stevan announced.
Match 5: MWL World Tag Team Championship - (C) Ssu-Ling (Seiryu & Byakko) v. The Norton Brothers
"YES!" Danny shouted. "Four-for-six!"
"Alright, settle down. The big moment is finally here." Chad muttered.
"Right, right." Danny nodded, taking a deep breath.
"This, ladies and gentlemen, is the main event for Onslaught! A one-on-one contest for the MWL World Heavyweight Championship! The reigning and defending champion, Yugo Ryan, hails from Lincoln, Nebraska, stands six-foot-seven, and weighs just two hundred and forty pounds. He is known for both the Superiority Complex, and the Riotdrive, and may well be the biggest name in the MWL today. He has held the MWL World Heavyweight Championship since Domination in August, and tonight the title will be on the line once again!" Chad announced.
"The challenger hails from Boston, Massachusetts. He stands six-foot-five, and weighs two hundred and forty-three pounds. He, in his own right, is quite the force in MWL, forming one half of Free Radical, tonight, the challenger is none other than Nicholas Hunter!" Danny grinned. "Oh, man, Chad, have you ever been this excited for a match?!"
"Calm down!" Chad groaned.
"You're right, you're right..." Danny answered. "Oh, man! This is going to be great!"
"Let's just go to the arena, alright?" Chad muttered.
"But...have we introduced it, well enough?" Danny asked.
"IT DOESN'T MATTER!" Chad yelled.
Main Event: MWL World Heavyweight Championship - (C) Yugo Ryan v. Nicholas Hunter
As Nicholas Hunter raised the MWL World Heavyweight Championship in triumph, Yugo Ryan struck him in the back of the head, as Lino, Catastrophe, Melissa, the Norton Brothers, and Scott Froelich came rushing down the ramp to aid in the assault against the new champion. As the seven of them attacked, all of the Ssu-Ling, Amy Kaldahl, Jim Norris, David Hitz, and Allan Martel rushed to the ring to aid Nicholas Hunter. The X was quickly forced out of the ring, as Jim Norris helped Nicholas Hunter to his feet. Genbu then lifted the champion up onto his shoulder, as Nicholas Hunter again held the championship high overhead in triumph, as the fireworks blasted.
