MWL Goldlust - July 29, 2007

Home News Shows Roster Championships

"A championship is the symbol of ultimation. It says 'I made it. I'm the best there is. Nothing can stop me.' The problem is, there's nowhere to go but down. A long way down. And someone's always willing to take your place at the top." -Yugo Ryan

"Championship gold isn't something you can just take. You have to earn it. Break the competition in half, and leave the champion in shambles as you walk away with their title. That is the test of being the best." -Kairez

"As a challenger, you only get a few shots, so you have to make them count. But as a champion, you get as many defenses as you can handle, until it slips through your fingers. Nobody stays on top forever." -Jim Norris

"Just about everyone wants to capture a championship at least once in their career. The problem lies in whether or not they can actually capture those championships." -Byakko

"A true champion can overcome the odds, defy the laws of physics, and utilize any opportunity to capture or retain his championship. A true champion never, and I mean NEVER, gives up." -Magnum

"To become a champion, one may very well on occasion have to stoop to illegal measures to conquer the challenger. Championship gold affects everyone. When someone gets the title, they need to be willing to do whatever it takes to win. But sometimes, not even everything is enough..." -Catastrophe

"Hello, everyone, and welcome to MWL Goldlust! Danny Tieso here, with Chad Vritska, from our broadcast position, backstage." Danny announced.

"That's right, it's been one hell of a ride going in, and just like the name implies, every MWL championship is on the line, tonight." Chad stated. "The opening bout tonight is a Last Man Standing match between Lino and Magnum. Now, these two have gotten into quite the heated conflict the past few weeks, haven't they, Danny?"

"That's right. Just over four weeks ago, the very first MWL World Heavyweight Champion was crowned, in a Fatal 4-Way Ladder match that saw Yugo Ryan climb the ladder and snatch the belt from Lino at the last second. Magnum, believing if he prevented Yugo from capturing the championship he would get a title shot tonight, was furious and got into an argument with Lino, that has led to tonight's opening matchup." Danny stated.

"Lino stands at 6' 10", and weights 263 pounds. Magnum stands 6' 5" and weighs 264 pounds. Lino, most definitely, has the height advantage, but Magnum outweighs him by one pound. Of course, Lino uses that Spike Suplex to drill opponents straight onto their skull from almost seven feet in the air, whereas Magnum likes to drop people on their face using the Shatter Bomb." Chad announced.

"That's right, now let's go to the arena for the opening bout here at MWL Goldlust!" Danny stated.

Match 1: Last Man Standing: Lino v. Magnum - Part 1 - Part 2

"Wow! Chad, I've got to say, what a way to kick off MWL Goldlust! Lino may have lost, but even so, he went down fighting." Danny announced.

"No kidding. I've been watching Lino wrestle for a long time, and I don't think he's ever been busted open like that, before." Chad answered. "He's taken some serious damage in the past, but nothing like that."

"Alright, well, let's head to the backstage area where Stevan Corber is standing by with MWL World Lightweight Champion, Jim Norris." Danny stated.

* * *

"Jim, in just a few moments, you defend your title against Byakko, one of the Ssu-Ling. What are your thoughts on that match?" Stevan asked.

"Byakko, tonight, I will prove that you are nothing compared to me, NOTHING! You'll be on the ass-end of a Radical Crash, then I'll pin you, one two three, and walk out still wearing the MWL World Lightweight Championship around my waist." Jim stated. "And you will know, once more, that you can not defeat me!" With that, Jim's music began and he stormed off.

"Jim Norris defends the MWL World Lightweight Championship againt Byakko, next!" Stevan announced.

Match 2: MWL World Lightweight Championship - Single: (C) Jim Norris v. Byakko

"Byakko!" Jim shouted over the microphone as Byakko stumbled up the ramp, holding the title belt. "You can't beat me without backup, and you know it!"

"Bet me!" Byakko shouted back.

"Oh, you think you can?" Jim asked. "Fine! Wednesday on Redline, you and me, one on one, for the Lightweight Title! And David's banned from ringside!" Jim shouted.

"You're on!" Byakko retorted.

* * *

"Danny, I have to say, I never expected Byakko to defeat Jim Norris in that match. Norris has always been such a dominant star in the Lightweight division, and Byakko is just such an underdog, but maybe it's like Nicholas Hunter said a couple of weeks ago. Maybe losing the title will help set him straight." Chad stated.

"If only. Speaking of Nicholas Hunter, he and the 'Black Turtle' Genbu will be in a triple threat match in just a few moments for number one contendership to the MWL-CAW Championship, at Domination." Danny announced.

"We still have no comfirmation from Michael Jamborgh on who the third and final participant in the match will be. Right now, it's anybody's guess as to who it is. It could very well be an inactive wrestler, a new talent, or maybe even just someone who didn't make it into any of the other matches." Chad stated. "Any ideas, Danny?"

"Not even one. I guess we'll just have to wait a few more minutes to find out." Danny answered. "Now, I understand Stevan Corber is standing by with Nicholas Hunter, let's go to him."

* * *

"Nicholas, just moments ago, we saw Jim Norris lose his Lightweight Championship to Byakko, and immediately challenge him to another match at Redline on Wednesday. What are your thoughts on that?" Stevan asked.

"I've got a match in a second, so I'll make it quick. I'm glad. Maybe now, Jimmy'll straighten up a little bit. The guy's a great athlete, but that belt went straight to his head. Besides, he's capable of a lot more than just the Lightweight Championship. Now, I've got to go, Stevan." Nicholas stated, hurrying off.

"Triple threat for MWL-CAW number-one contendership is up NEXT!" Stevan announced.

Match 3: MWL-CAW Contendership - Triple Threat: Genbu v. Nicholas Hunter v. ????? - Part 1 - Part 2

"What a return for the still undefeated Genbu!" Danny announced.

"Man, the Ssu-Ling are on a roll, tonight! Their first night of being back in action, all together, and they're dominating their opponents!" Chad stated. "Byakko is the new MWL World Lightweight Champion, Genbu is the number-one contender to the MWL-CAW Championship for Domination, and next, Seiryu and Kouryuu defend the MWL World Tag Team Championship against Instant Epic Win."

"That's right." Danny began. "Now, Stevan is backstage with reigning MWL World Heavyweight Champion, Yugo Ryan. Stevan?"

* * *

"Yugo, earlier we saw Magnum defeat Lino in the Last Man Standing match. What are your thoughts?" Stevan asked.

"Well, frankly, I'm amazed he managed to pull that match out of his ass after the beatings he's taken, lately." Yugo answered. "Especially after my match against Lino a little over a week ago..."

"And your thoughts on your title defense against Kairez, tonight?" Stevan pressed.

"I...wait, has anyone even SEEN Kairez since that world title match?" Yugo asked. "Far as I know, he just, like, disappeared! If he doesn't show up, do I still have to defend my title?"

"I'd say probably, yeah." Stevan answered.

"Well, that sucks!" Yugo groaned.

"Seiryu and Kouryuu versus Instant Epic Win for the MWL World Tag Team Titles, next!" Stevan announced.

"Hey, I'm not done!" Yugo interrupted.

Match 4: MWL World Tag Team Championship - Tag Team - Normal Tag: (C) Seiryu and Kouryuu v. Instant Epic Win - Part 1 - Part 2

"Well, Danny, it looks like the Ssu-Ling are dominating once more. They now hold half of the championships, here in MWL." Chad stated.

"Coming up next is the rematch for Panzer's MWL-CAW Championship, between the reigning and defending champion, Panzer, and his opponent, once again, Catastrophe." Danny began. "This is a rematch set up by Michael Jamborgh at the request of Catastrophe, and the acceptance of Panzer. Now, let's go to the backstage area where Stevan Corber is standing by with Catastrophe."

* * *

"Catastrophe, in just a few moments you'll be challenging for the MWL-CAW Championship once again. Is there anything you'd like to say?" Stevan asked.

"Yeah. Panzer, you won last time, but mark my words, this time, I will be walking away as the champion! There's nothing you'll be able to do about it, either!" Catastrophe shouted.

"Catastrophe, Panzer's pretty heavy. Are you sure you'll be able to even pick him up?" Stevan asked.

"Have you ever seen me NOT able to lift anybody up for the Tilt-A-Whirl Knockout?" Catastrophe demanded.

"Well, I suppose not, but what if he figures out a way to keep you from doing it?" Stevan asked.

"Well, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, now, won't we?" Catastrophe growled. "The point is, Panzer, tonight, I walk away a champion, and you stay behind, as NOTHING!" Catastrophe smacked the microphone out of Stevan's hand and stormed off. Stevan sighed, before bending over to pick it up.

Match 5: MWL-CAW Championship - Single: (C) Panzer v. Catastrophe

"Hello again, Danny Tieso here, with Chad Vritska." Danny began. "And here with us, at this time is Scott Froelich."

"Scott, tell us, are you upset at all that you didn't win the Fatal 4-Way match for the shot at the Lightweight Title, a few weeks ago?" Chad asked.

"Well, to be honest, I'm disappointed. I mean, Byakko won, fair and square, but I'm upset that I didn't get the chance." Scott answered.

"And what is your reaction to Jim Norris losing the title tonight to Byakko, the one that he's degraded for the past few weeks?" Danny asked.

"Well, I'm both glad, and a bit upset. First, I'm glad that Byakko got the belt off of him, maybe it'll straighten him up, but then, I kind of wanted to be the one to smack that cocky smirk off his face." Scott answered.

"And what's your reaction to Jim's challenge for a rematch on Redline?" Danny asked.

"Well, David is definitely a big part of why Byakko walked out the champion... But it probably wasn't a good idea for Byakko to accept. Something tells me Jimmy has some kind of trick up his sleeve..." Scott stated.

"Well, Scott, thank you have a match against Christopher Martel on Wednesday, good luck with that, and thank you for your time." Chad began. "And now, it's time for the main event at MWL Goldlust!"

"But first, the tale of the tape." Scott interrupted.

"Yugo Ryan is the reigning and defending MWL World Heavyweight Champion. He stands 6' 7", weighs 240 pounds, and uses the Superiority Complex and Riotdrive as his finishers." Danny stated.

"Kairez is the challenger, and Yugo Ryan's former tag team partner. He stands at 6' 6" and weighs 246 pounds. He uses Smoke and Mirrors, and the Whiplash Powerbomb as his finishers." Chad stated.

"I've been in the ring with both of them, before. This should be a good match." Scott announced.

"Now, let's go to the arena for the main event!" Danny announced.

Main Event: MWL World Heavyweight Championship - Single: (C) Yugo Ryan v. Kairez

Yugo Ryan stood, facing Kairez, his hands on his hips. He then looked to Kairez for a moment before stepping out of the ring and retrieving the title belt. He slid back in and approached Kairez. He paused before handing over the belt and raising Kairez's hand his music blared.
